the Bunk Bulletin

where every day is just as nonsensical as the last...

That's my President!

I never used to read the White House website, mostly because it was full of Dubya's nonsensical, uninformed, shoot from the hip, propagandist bullshit... but since President Obama took office last week, I have been hooked to their Press Releases and Blog entries.

The Latest - I can't wait for the naysayers to start the "Obama isn't making change happen". THIS folks, is what getting shit done looks like!

"This moment of peril must be turned to one of progress," President Barack Obama said this morning, as he signed his first two Presidential Memoranda aimed at getting us on the path to energy independence.

In what he called "a down payment on a broader and sustained effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil," President Obama directed the Department of Transportation (DOT) to establish higher fuel efficiency standards for carmakers' 2011 model year. The standard, known as Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE), was established in 1975 in the wake of the Arab Oil Embargo.

The second memo paves the way for California and more than a dozen other states to raise emissions standards above and beyond the national standard. They'd asked to do so before, but the Bush administration had denied the request.

"Instead of serving as a partner, Washington stood in their way," President Obama said. "The days of Washington dragging its heels are over."

Isn't that about typical. States wanted to pass stricter emissions standards and the Bush administration said NO?!?!

No, Thank You!

The American Dream lives on...

Senator Barack Hussein Obama II, has been elected by a majority (and electoral) vote to become the 44th President of the United States of America.

Forget that President-Elect Obama is African American. He is much bigger than just his race.

I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story, that I owe a debt to all of those who came before me, and that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.

What President-Elect Obama proved to the world last night, was that in America, whether you're young or old, rich or poor, Democrat or Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled or not disabled... if you put your mind to something, you can achieve great things in this great country of ours.

Admit it or not, the United States has always been a glimmer on the horizon, a beacon of hope if you will, to the rest of the world. Not because of our wealth, or the arms that we own... but because when it gets down to basic, American fundamentals that our founding fathers established, anything is possible in America.

President-Elect Obama is an inspiration to tens of millions of people throughout the world. Last night, we elected Barack Obama as our President. In doing so, we restored that faith that millions hold for America. We told the world last night that we are sick of our great nation suffering under the tyrant leadership that we've experienced since 2000. We told the world last night that America is BACK. We sought out change, President-Elect Obama brought forth a dream of change, and we took off with it... leaving all non-believers and naysayers in our dust.

Congratulations Senator Obama, Michelle Obama, and their 2 wonderful girls. Great things are in store for this country. I am proud to have made a difference and been part of history. I will be forever grateful for the 63 million plus that cast their ballot for Barack Obama yesterday.

Yes We Can. Yes We Did.

Barack Obama is the American Dream...

Barack Obama did not ride the coat tails of his Father and Grandfather, both who reached rank of Admiral, for entrance into the Naval Academy. Barack Obama didn't slip through the cracks and barely make it at college. Nor did he 't nearly get expelled from college for crashing his jet in Spain, knocking out a complete power grid and almost causing an international incident...

Barack Obama proves, or should prove, that you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. Read this, from his Keynote address at the 2004 DNC.

My parents shared not only an improbable love; they shared an abiding faith in the possibilities of this nation. They would give me an African name, Barack, or "blessed," believing that in a tolerant America, your name is no barrier to success.

(APPLAUSE)

They imagined me going to the best schools in the land, even though they weren't rich, because in a generous America you don't have to be rich to achieve your potential.

(APPLAUSE)

They're both passed away now. And yet I know that, on this night, they look down on me with great pride.

And I stand here today grateful for the diversity of my heritage, aware that my parents' dreams live on in my two precious daughters.

I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story, that I owe a debt to all of those who came before me, and that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.

(APPLAUSE)

Tonight, we gather to affirm the greatness of our nation not because of the height of our skyscrapers, or the power of our military, or the size of our economy; our pride is based on a very simple premise, summed up in a declaration made over two hundred years ago: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal...

(APPLAUSE)

... that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

That is the true genius of America, a faith...

(APPLAUSE)

... a faith in simple dreams, an insistence on small miracles; that we can tuck in our children at night and know that they are fed and clothed and safe from harm; that we can say what we think, write what we think, without hearing a sudden knock on the door; that we can have an idea and start our own business without paying a bribe; that we can participate in the political process without fear of retribution; and that our votes will be counted -- or at least, most of the time.

To listen, and not be inspired, is a shame...

Why stoners shouldn't be allowed to vote...

My wife read a bulletin posted on one of her friend's MySpace or Facebook pages. It was written by some douche who claims that if you vote Democrat or Republican, you're throwing your vote away, and that you should vote 3rd party in order to stick it to the man and send a message to the Liberals and Conservatves.

Sigh...

The "friend" that posted this likely hasn't had a non-alchohol/marijuana altered thought in 10 years. This circle of folk that the friend belongs too are in their mid-20's, going on 16. Most of them have no ambition, as most pot heads, and the specific friend who posted this piece of political brilliance has a 4 month old child and is still supported by her parents. Sidenote: She was actually planning to vote for Obama until her parents pressured her that their small business would suffer if Obama was elected, and for that reason, she should vote for McCain... you know, because ultimately if her parents go broke, so does she... adult.

So anyways, this "against the machine" author spews his uneducated rhetoric about how voting 3rd party is the only way to get change to occur and that, get this, Obama and McCain are practically the same candidate.

Um, buddy, have you been awake, at all, in the past 12 months. There hasn't been 2 less-similar candidates running against each other in recent history. Only a moron would look at the fundamentals of what Barack Obama and John McCain base their campaigns on and say, yep, the same. This rhetoric was of course applauded within her loser circle of friends with analysis like "AMEN!", "Damn right!" and "YEAH!".

I laugh at thee... meanwhile, us grown ups are going to research our candidates and vote for the guy who will make decisions based on the good of American society.

Nov 4th... as I see it...
